New > Import Remote Asset Collection

This feature is available from the global New Button and takes the URL of a SPARQL endpoint as input to create a new asset collection that mirrors the data from the endpoint. The operation can also create a suitable Ontology.

The dialog offers the following options:

  • Asset collection name: the name of the asset collection.

  • SPARQL endpoint URL: the URL of the SPARQL endpoint.

  • Endpoint implementation: the implementation of the SPARQL endpoint, from one of the listed vendors. This is used to activate implementation-specific optimizations, e.g. for auto-complete. If none is selected, a generic default SPARQL adapter is used, without any database-specific optimizations.

  • Remote named graph: the named graph that shall be queried on the SPARQL endpoint. If no value is specified then the default graph will be queried.

  • Complete mode: makes the local asset collection a complete copy of the remote database. This is automatically activated when Ontology is the selected collection type.

  • Collection type: the type of asset collection to create. Defaults to Data Graph, then Taxonomy, then Ontology, depending on available licenses.

  • Editable: allows edits to the remote data. Changes will be written both to the local database and the remote graph.

  • Generate Ontology: also generates a new Ontology based on the instance data found at the SPARQL endpoint. Alternatively, include an existing Ontology later. This is not supported when the selected collection type is Ontology.

  • Skip namespace detection: by default the system will try to determine the used namespaces from the endpoint. Activate this option to bypass that step; the namespaces will need to be entered manually at a later stage.
